Microsoft Dynamics NAV, formerly Navision, is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) product for finance and business operations. Business Central is the successor. Support dates depend on the installed NAV release, not the name Navision. ## Successors and migration paths **Successors and version-specific migration prerequisites. Source: MS Dynamics Guys End-of-Support Tracker (msdynamicsguys.com).** | Product | Successor | Path boundary | Microsoft documentation | |---|---|---|---| | Dynamics NAV | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | Dynamics NAV 2015 to 2018 upgrades to Business Central on-premises version 14, then to version 25, then to a current version. C/AL customizations must become AL extensions. Cloud migration then moves the data to Business Central online. | [Supported upgrade paths to Business Central on-premises](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/upgrade/upgrade-paths) | The product path is not a project plan. NAV 2017 extended support ends on January 11, 2027. NAV 2018 extended support ends on January 11, 2028. The other NAV versions listed here have ended support. ### Is Navision the same as Microsoft Dynamics NAV? Navision is the former name of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Use the installed release number to find its support deadline. ### When does NAV 2016 support end? NAV 2016 extended support ended on April 14, 2026. MS Dynamics Guys links the Microsoft product record and annual support summary in its version table. ### Does a move to Business Central preserve customizations? A NAV upgrade needs an inventory of custom objects and integrations. Microsoft documents intermediate upgrade versions and conversion from C/AL to AL. Test the resulting extensions and migrated data. ### Can a partner keep supporting NAV after Microsoft stops? A partner can offer work under its own agreement. That does not reinstate Microsoft's product support or security updates. Check responsibility for custom code and the underlying database separately. ### How should I cite these NAV dates?
