- [Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) 9.1: mainstream support: January 12, 2029](https://msdynamicsguys.com/lifecycle/dynamics-crm/#version-ce-9-1) (823 days left)
- [Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) 9.1: extended support: January 9, 2031](https://msdynamicsguys.com/lifecycle/dynamics-crm/#version-ce-9-1) (1550 days left)

Calendar dates, not exact cutoff times. Product support and licensing milestones are separate entries.

## What is Dynamics CRM on-premises?

Microsoft Dynamics CRM manages customer relationship management (CRM) work, such as sales and customer service. Customer Engagement is the later on-premises product name.

The newer Customer Engagement 9.1 dates do not extend support for CRM 2016 or Customer Engagement 9.0. Match the installed release before using a countdown.

## Successors and migration paths

**Successors and version-specific migration prerequisites. Source: MS Dynamics Guys End-of-Support Tracker (msdynamicsguys.com).**

| Product | Successor | Path boundary | Microsoft documentation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dynamics CRM and Customer Engagement on-premises | Microsoft Dynamics 365 customer engagement apps (online) | Older CRM releases need a supported upgrade path before online migration. Microsoft's on-premises-to-online process starts from version 9.0 or later. Check version-specific upgrade guidance and unsupported customizations before planning the move. | [Before you upgrade: issues and considerations (Customer Engagement 9.1)](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customerengagement/on-premises/deploy/before-you-upgrade-issues-and-considerations?view=op-9-1); [Dynamics CRM or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (on-premises) to Microsoft Dynamics 365 online migration process overview](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/guidance/migrate/opol-crm-migration-high-level-overview); [Dynamics CRM (on-premises) to Microsoft Dynamics 365 migration](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/guidance/fasttrack/migration) |

The product path is not a project plan. See [Microsoft Dynamics 365 migration and upgrade planning](https://msdynamicsguys.com/migrations/) for scope, rehearsals and ownership.

## Why source dates can differ

| Topic | Tracker treatment | Source context | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer Engagement 9.1 support dates | The current Microsoft Lifecycle note gives mainstream support to January 12, 2029 and extended support to January 9, 2031. | The 2024 Microsoft announcement still gives January 12, 2027 and January 9, 2029. These are historical comparison dates, not tracker deadlines. | [Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement Apps, version 9.x (on-premises update) - Microsoft Lifecycle](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/dynamics-365-for-customer-engagement-apps-version-9x-onpremises-update); [Support extended for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement Apps, v9 (on-premises)](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/dynamics-365-customer-engagement-apps-v9-support-extended) |

## Questions about Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premises end of life

### When is Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premises end of life?

Customer Engagement 9.1 mainstream support ends on January 12, 2029. Extended support ends on January 9, 2031. MS Dynamics Guys treats older CRM releases separately.

### Did Microsoft extend Customer Engagement 9.1 support?

The current Microsoft Lifecycle note gives the dates shown here. The older Microsoft announcement still carries superseded dates. Use the linked product record and conflict explanation.

### When did Dynamics CRM 2016 support end?

CRM 2016 extended support ended on January 13, 2026. The Customer Engagement 9.1 extension does not change that CRM 2016 deadline.

### Is Customer Engagement 9.0 covered through the 9.1 deadline?

No. The original 9.0 release ended on July 11, 2023. MS Dynamics Guys lists 9.0 and 9.1 separately so the later date is not applied to an unsupported release.

### Can Dynamics CRM on-premises migrate to the online apps?

Microsoft documents the on-premises-to-online migration process. Its source-version rule starts at version 9.0 or later. Older installations need an appropriate upgrade path first.

### Does the countdown replace a support agreement?

No. It is a calendar-date planning aid. Check your installed release, required updates, database and support agreement against the Microsoft sources.

## How MS Dynamics Guys checked these dates

MS Dynamics Guys checked Microsoft's CRM and Customer Engagement product records on October 10, 2026. Explicit product-page notes resolve the later 9.1 dates when older announcements differ.
